Library Policies:
The Learning Commons space, materials, and staff will be treated with respect.
Students may come to the LC any time they have permission from a teacher. In these cases students must present a pass to the Librarian indicating that they have permission.
Students who come with a pass and behave inappropriately or disrupt the activity of other students may be asked to leave the LC for that day. In extreme cases they may be asked to demonstrate that they have learned to make better choices before they can come on their own again.
Students have the autonomy to check out their own books. This privilege comes with the responsibility of making sure their books are properly checked in when they return them.
Students will check out library materials using their six-digit student ID number.
Students may check out up to 2 books at a time, for 2 weeks. Books may be returned early.
Books that are overdue may not be renewed. However, students are encouraged to check the book in to clear the overdue status, then they are welcomed to immediately check the book back out in order to continue using it.
Books that are more than 30 days overdue will be declared lost, and a predetermined fine to cover the cost of replacing the book will be applied to the student's account.
Any lost books returned will result in the fine being deleted and the account cleared of all charges.
Students are responsible for any damage done to materials checked out to them, with the resulting consequences, up to and including replacing the item, at the discretion of the Librarian in consultation with the Principal.
If payment is an issue, s
tudents, at the discretion of the Librarian, may be allowed to work off the cost of damages or loss .
