House Council Descriptions and Requirements

The House Council is a student leadership organization made up of representatives from all grade level students. They work together to make Grapevine Middle School a better place. The Council will be comprised of student representatives from each house. Each house will have one student from each grade level elected to serve as part of the council. 


Requirement of all Positions:

  • Demonstrates strong leadership inside and outside the classroom
  • Positive influence on peers
  • In good academic standing
  • Regular attendance and participation at House Council events and meetings, including one lunch meeting per month
  • No ISS/OSS referrals for this academic school year

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understands that they will be seen as leaders by their classmates and teachers
  • Keeps the best interest of the student body in mind
  • Serves all students in grade level and house
  • May be called upon to greet, host, and/or speak at events
  • Must be able to talk to Administrator regarding concerns and issues
  • Serve as a liaison between the student body and council
  • Collects and reports feedback from students/staff to the council by actively listening to the student body

House Council Elections will happen during the first few weeks of school. If you want to show your leadership skills at GMS, apply to be on House Council!
