2019-2020

Hello Athletic Parents, Guardians, and Students:
This upcoming week is our official PINK OUT GAME. I know that we have been wearing pink for the past couple of weeks, but this is our official game! EVERYONE, INCLUDING FANS IN THE STANDS, PLEASE WEAR PINK!!!! This is a reminder to also sign up for our Susan G. Komen walk on Saturday! Please sign up. The directions are below. Also, please READ the Cross Country information!!!!

Here are some notes from the matches last week:
This was a week of hard work and a lot of sweat! The 8th grade came up short this week as did the 7th grade. But the 8th grade adjusted well to the new line-ups a few days before the game. All of our players fought hard and we are VERY proud of each and every one of you!

For the 8th grade MVP's in last night's game we have:
A Team- Alli Edelman #19
B Team- Rain Jackson #13
C Team- Lily Jenkins #5

For the 7th grade MVP's were:
7th A: Izzy Hamilton #23
7th B: Journey Berry #18
7th C: Sloan Heckt #4

The Volleyball Players of the Week are:
8th Grade:
A Team-Emily Daniel #22
B Team- Annaleigh Frantz #46
C Team- Lupita Gonzalez #44

7th grade:
7th A: Lia Trone #26
7th B: Elena Diaz #38
7th C: Yahaira Danis #3

Congratulate all of these young ladies when you see them and we would love to see you at our OFFICIAL PINK OUT game next Thursday here at GMS! GOOOOO Ponies!

PDL Tournament
THANK YOU TO ALL THE STUDENTS AND PARENTS THAT HELPED OUT DURING THE PDL TOURNAMENT!!! YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!!!

Cross Country
If you are not on the volleyball team, you are now on the cross country team until basketball tryouts. If you want to tryout for basketball, you may when that time comes. But until that time comes, you will workout with the cross country team. There is no more off-season. Coach Chippeaux has made this very clear to all the off-season athletes during volleyball season. Now, you are either in season with volleyball or in season with cross country. Please make the necessary arrangements (drop off and pick up) until basketball tryouts begin in November. More information on basketball tryouts will be available soon.

-Cross Country practice officially begins on Wednesday October 23rd.

-7th grade: Doors open at 6:30 am and practice begins at 6:45 am. Practice will end at 7:45 am and students will have opportunity for second chance breakfast.

-8th grade: Practice begins at 3:30 pm and goes until 4:45 pm.

-Parent meeting will be Wednesday, October 30th at 6 pm in the Lecture Hall.

-First Cross Country Meet will be November 6th at 4 pm @ Coppell West

PAPERWORK
Please note that ALL STUDENTS IN ATHLETICS (REGARDLESS IF THEY ARE ON THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM OR NOT) need to have:
1. PHYSICAL
2. MEDICAL HISTORY FORM (Part of the physical but on a separate page)
3. COMPLETED ONLINE UIL PAPERWORK
4. SIGNED GCISD PLEDGE TURNED INTO THE COACHES
5. SIGNED GMS GIRLS ATHLETIC POLICIES TURNED INTO THE COACHES

Here are all the links to the papers mentioned above:

Please make sure your physical is current and up-to-date! You cannot compete in any athletic events if your physical is not current!

Uniforms:
Please move onto the next section if you still have your all gray uniform from last year and it still fits. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW UNIFORM IF YOU STILL CAN USE YOUR ALL GRAY UNIFORM FROM PREVIOUS YEARS!!! THIS SECTION IS FOR ATHLETES THAT ARE NEW OR WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A NEW UNIFORM, BUT IT IS NOT REQUIRED. IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR ALL GRAY UNIFORM FROM PREVIOUS YEARS, YOU WEAR THAT!!!

GMS Athletics found a more price friendly vendor who will accommodate us and our needs as a campus. This store is all online and can only be opened for certain time slots. Reason for that is they need to have their machines “print ready” for us. We will periodically be opening the store throughout the year. Here is the link and access code to the website:
https://www.bsnteamsports.com/index
Access Code- THE STORE IS NOW CLOSED AND WILL OPEN AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE

The website has multiple options of clothing for purchase, but ONLY THE SHORT SLEEVE RED SHIRT IS REQUIRED FROM THE WEBSITE. Everything else in the store is OPTIONAL. You may order the women’s cut or the other model of red shirt. It does not matter and is based on preference. Our new uniforms are the red shirt and gray shorts. This is where it can get a bit confusing-for you to be in uniform we require the RED SHIRT and GRAY SHORTS, but the GRAY SHORTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE PURCHASED FROM THE WEBSITE. If you already have solid gray shorts at home, and do not want to spend extra money on the gray shorts in the online store, you may wear you own solid gray shorts to athletics as long as there are no crazy designs on the side. Shorts also need to be longer than your fingertips when hands are at your side. If not in uniform, you will lose points and if this is a consistent offense, it could be the basis for your removal from the athletic program. If you have ordered a uniform and are waiting for it to be shipped, wear athletic gear you already own until your shipment has arrived. You will not lose any points if I can see the receipt on the online store. Athletic shoes (no sandals or boots) are required for athletics as well.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE DRESSED OUT IN PROPER ATTIRE NOW! YOU WILL START LOSING POINTS THE SECOND NINE WEEKS OF SCHOOL!

BOOSTER CLUB:
Our booster club provides so much for our athletics program. They help fund athletic equipment, uniforms, and meals; basically anything we need to provide for our athletes success. We would love to get more parents of student-athletes involved to help grow our athletic program at GMS.
